Spring in Kyoto (March – May)

Kyoto in spring is a spectacle of cherry blossoms, with some of Japan’s best hanami spots and a lively festive atmosphere. With some of Japan’s most stunning hanami (flower-viewing) spots, Kyoto comes alive in a festive atmosphere, where every street and garden is adorned in delicate pink blooms. Enjoy cultural highlights like geiko and maiko performances and illuminated sakura displays. Do not miss the Aoi Matsuri on 15 May, one of Kyoto’s three great festivals.

Summer in Kyoto (June – August)

As summer arrives, Kyoto’s kawa-yuka dining begins, offering a unique riverside experience. July marks the Gion Festival, Kyoto’s iconic summer celebration, featuring the spectacular Yamahoko procession. Enjoy the festivities along Oike Street in front of Park Hotel Kyoto or nearby within walking distance.

Autumn in Kyoto (September - November)

In autumn, the entire city of Kyoto, its temples, shrines and gardens turn red, orange and golden. Autumn is also the season of festivals and events, including the Jidai Matsuri on October 22.

Winter in Kyoto (December – February)

Winter brings a quieter side to Kyoto, offering a serene escape from the crowds. On rare snowy days, iconic sites like Kinkakuji and Ginkakuji transform into breathtaking winter scenes. This season also features traditional year-end and New Year celebrations, adding a festive charm to the city.
